Children’s Dentistry
Toothfairy Adult and Kids Dentist is proud to work with patients of all ages, including children! We always strive to create a relaxed and fun atmosphere for our younger patients who come to see us. Making dental visits as fun and enjoyable as possible for children encourages them to take care of their smiles now and well into the future.
In addition to routine dental exams and gentle dental cleanings, we recommend that children have dental sealants placed over their teeth. Sealants reduce the risk of cavities by preventing harmful bacteria and food particles from collecting in the crevices of their molars. Occasional fluoride treatments are also a great idea to fortify their enamel to be strong, healthy, and more resistant to decay.
Oral Appliance Therapy
Our office can craft custom mouthguards to protect the teeth and treat a variety of dental-related conditions.
A nightguard for bruxism protects the teeth from being damaged by nightly teeth grinding. It acts as a physical barrier between the upper and lower arches of teeth to cushion against the abnormal forces brought on by grinding and clenching.
If you or your child play competitive or recreational sports that involve potential contact with the ground, equipment, or other participants, we can create a snug-fitting sports mouthguard. These are comfortable to wear and will protect the teeth from injury.
We also design custom oral appliances for obstructive sleep apnea, which hold the jaw in a comfortable position that allows the patient breathe easily throughout the night. Patients who have untreated sleep apnea frequently experience daytime fatigue, headaches, dry or sore throats, irritability, brain fog, and loud snoring. In serious cases, sleep apnea can actually be fatal, which is why it’s important to seek treatment as soon as possible.
Relaxing Dental Sedation
Dental anxiety affects children and adults alike. In fact, some patients frequently cancel dental appointments or have trouble scheduling them in the first place due to the overwhelming fear and anxiety they face. Whether you regularly experience anxiety or you just want to relax during your dental visit, our office provides several different choices for dental sedation.
Nitrous oxide works well for mild dental anxiety and less invasive treatments because the patient is fully conscious and aware throughout the treatment and its effects wear off quickly. Other options like oral conscious sedation and general anesthesia tend to be better for more extensive treatments, severe anxiety, and patients who cannot sit still for long periods of time.
